Alionor Labesse Κotoff is a photographer from Arles, France. She has been invited to the Kalymos by Michalis Papachantzis a representative of Kalymnian expats from Arles. Her interest in Kalymnians abroad was sparked by her search for an Orthodox church in her area. When she realized all three churches were built by Kalymnians in France she was greatly impressed.
She is currently creating a book on the Kalymnian diaspora in France and will be documenting some local traditions regarding the Assumption of Mary. In the future, she hopes to make a book that includes the Kalymian diaspora worldwide.
We spoke with her after the annual meeting that is held between representatives of the diaspora and local authorities.
