A hunger striker, a tragic father, is now at the limits of his physical strength, claiming a macabre yet self-evident right: to know the cause of his child’s death.
Justice remains deafeningly indifferent, the Government continues its systematic manipulations, while the wave of solidarity grows in the face of state cruelty, neglect, and cover-up. The rule of law is under constant doubt.
Citizens are taking to the streets in daily demonstrations, demanding justice, transparency, and answers for what we have been experiencing in recent years. The outrage expressed in these gatherings is not solely about the tragic Tempi train disaster.
➡️ Soaring prices are shattering household budgets, plunging families into hardship and uncertainty. The Government refuses even to adopt EU directives that mandate tax reductions on basic necessities and medicines.
➡️ Wages remain stagnant, working hours increase so that employees can barely cover their basic needs, and working conditions grow ever more suffocating. As a result, workplace accidents have risen dramatically, due to lack of inspections and safety measures.
➡️ The only numbers that thrive are those of the ND Government. Citizens are sinking deeper into misery, edging closer to poverty, struggling daily with economic and psychological dead-ends.
➡️ Across all sectors of social and economic life, cartels and opportunists dominate—those with the right “connections” to reap illicit gains, subsidies, favorable regulations, and preferential treatment.
➡️ Greece ranks 89th out of 180 countries for press freedom, according to official data—holding the worst position among EU member states.
➡️ Media control and manipulation, through government-funded “support lists,” blatantly aim to create a false reality within the country, masking growing public discontent, inadequate foreign policy handling, and international discredit.
Meanwhile, upon returning from his fiasco trip to the U.S., the Prime Minister discovered an “orgy of misinformation” regarding what had happened. Perhaps he is increasingly concerned that he can no longer control information to the degree that suits him and his Government. In the eyes of citizens, this Government is now defined overwhelmingly by the word corruption, according to recent polls.
We are already in the seventh year of New Democracy governance.
📍 Society’s demand for political change grows ever more urgent. The country must turn the page immediately, while reversal of this bleak reality is still possible.
📍 SYRIZA–PS’s proposal for a Progressive Greece is precisely what society is asking for—and urgently needs. It is concrete, comprehensive, and it offers a breath of fresh air for Greek society and the economy.
📍 From a Greece of cartels and profiteering, we must finally move to a Greece of equal rights, social justice, prosperity for the many, and balanced, sustainable development.
📍 The implementation of such a plan can and must emerge through cooperation among progressive political forces—providing a credible democratic way out of the mire in which our country is trapped. Fragmentation, old wounds, personal agendas, and political withdrawal only serve stagnation and the perpetuation of today’s dead-ends.
📍 The unity of the progressive space and common action is our democratic duty. It is the most pressing challenge of the moment. This is society’s demand, our obligation, and our commitment to a people weighed down by despair.
📍 The progressive governance proposal presented by SYRIZA–PS is the one that must stand against the ND Government in the next elections, aiming to provide credible answers to pressing concerns.
This is the dynamic course of initiative and cooperation that SYRIZA–PS is now undertaking.
It is the time for action and reconstruction.
In this effort, no one is expendable.
