We do not have a government that makes mistakes every day; we have the wrong government.
Another fiasco, another mockery: not only did they fail to pay farmers the subsidies they are entitled to, but they also withheld funds for ELGA contributions. Mr. Mitsotakis’ so-called “excellent” team once again proved that it cannot carry out even the most basic payments—despite delays and false promises—nor show respect for the farming community.
What happened is not a technical error or an oversight. It is the result of incompetence, disintegration, and the government’s complete indifference toward the primary sector. It is a total political failure.
They dismantled OPEKEPE, after the “blue locusts” had first swooped in, devalued every support mechanism, and turned agricultural subsidies into a field of arbitrariness and deception.
While blue scandals pile up and responsibilities are covered up, farmers are paying a heavy price for a government that operates without a plan, without oversight, and without credibility.
They ask farmers for understanding and patience after emptying their coffers, yet they provide no answers as to how farmers will meet their obligations or how they will make a living.
No trust in a prime minister who proves incapable of guaranteeing what is self-evident and duly earned.
No tolerance for a government that is driving the primary sector to extinction.
The farming community can no longer endure more deception. The responsibilities are specific and rest solely with the government.
This is not a government that “simply” makes mistakes every day; it is the wrong government—and it must go. As soon as possible.
