The Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) continues its operation “I’ll Take You on a Cruise”, targeting daily cruise boats. In Kos, inspectors from outside the island posed as tourists, purchasing tickets either online or in cash, in order to monitor the use of cash registers, POS systems, and receipt issuance.
Near the end of each trip, they revealed their identity, presented their credentials, and imposed fines for violations. At the same time, with the assistance of the Port Authority, inspectors had obtained passenger lists, which they cross-checked against data from myDATA and e-Send, uncovering major discrepancies that confirmed revenue concealment.
Overall, tax evasion was detected on 3 out of 4 cruise boats operating routes from Kos to Pserimos and Kalymnos.
