The Volunteer Fire Station (B’ Class) of Kalymnos held its traditional New Year’s cake-cutting ceremony on Saturday, 31 January 2026, at 18:00, at the station’s premises. The cake was blessed by His Eminence Metropolitan Paisios of Kalymnos, Leros and Astypalaia.
The event offered an opportunity for gathering and exchanging New Year wishes, while also highlighting the important work of the volunteer firefighters, who remain on the front line in protecting lives, property and the island’s natural environment.
Volunteer firefighter Savvas Ergas was the lucky winner of the vasilopita coin. Among those attending were the Regional Unit Head of Kalymnos, Manolis Mousellis and the Deputy Mayor for Everyday Affairs, Vasileios Mousellis, as well as representatives of the Armed Forces and the Hellenic Coast Guard.
