Following the severe weather that struck the Dodecanese islands, MP for the Dodecanese Giannis Pappas initiated immediate actions to restore damaged road and port infrastructure. He contacted the Mayors of Kos, Theodosis Nikitaras, Kalymnos, Giannis Mastrokoukos, and Leros, Timotheos Kottakis, to obtain a full assessment of the situation and coordinate necessary interventions.
He subsequently met with Deputy Minister for Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, responsible for state aid, Konstantinos Katsafados, to plan the rapid restoration of damages. The discussion focused on Rhodes and Kos — particularly Kardamaina and Kefalos port — as well as Vathy of Kalymnos, Pserimos, Myrties port, and Agia Marina port in Leros.
The Deputy Minister assured that procedures for damage assessment, funding, and project implementation will be accelerated. Mr. Pappas stressed that the primary objective is the swift return of the islands to normality through safe and functional infrastructure that supports residents’ daily life and ensures smooth economic activity.
