On Wednesday, July 30, 2025, the Mayor of Kalymnos, Mr. Yiannis Mastrokoukos, welcomed to his office Ms. Viktoria Balamasiou and Ms. Valsamoula Baki, officials from the National Organization for the Prevention and Treatment of Addictions (E.O.P.A.E.).
The E.O.P.A.E. representatives held a working meeting with the Mayor, where they presented the core actions of the organization and discussed opportunities for collaboration with local authorities. Topics included substance use prevention, strengthening psychosocial support for vulnerable groups, and designing awareness programs tailored to the local community.
The Mayor expressed his satisfaction with the presence and interest shown by E.O.P.A.E., emphasizing the importance of prevention and early intervention in combating addiction. He reassured that the Municipality will support any initiative aimed at improving citizens’ quality of life, strengthening social cohesion, and tackling all forms of addiction.
The current Municipal Administration, with a strong social focus in its policies, remains committed to addressing the scourge of addictions—an issue that undermines social unity and endangers the youth.
