Announced Projects for Kalymnos Included in the South Aegean Region’s Technical Program
The Regional Unit of Kalymnos proudly announced that the projects recently presented by the Governor of the South Aegean Region, Mr. George Hatzimarkos, during his visit to the island, have been officially included in the Region’s Technical Program. The projects were approved during the Regional Council’s meeting held on September 18, 2025.
With a total budget of €4,723,800, these projects represent substantial interventions aimed at improving citizens’ daily lives, enhancing safety, and preserving the island’s cultural heritage.
The included projects are:
- Installation of street lighting along the provincial roads: Pothia – Vathy, Armeos – Arginonta, and Arginonta – Skalia
- Installation of safety barriers at the “Prionas” location
- Maintenance of the flood protection dam at Kantouni
- Structural and architectural study for the restoration of the Holy Metropolitan Church
- Restoration of facade sections of the Kalymnos Regional Unit building
- Road construction on the islet of Kalolimnos
With their inclusion in the Technical Program, these projects are now set in motion, confirming the Region’s ongoing commitment to addressing longstanding issues and supporting Kalymnos through concrete action.
