The upcoming week at the European Parliament will focus on major geopolitical, economic, and technological issues shaping the EU’s future.
During the plenary session, MEPs will debate the third anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and review EU support and policy responses.
At committee level, discussions will cover:
- strengthening European defence and strategic sovereignty,
- a hearing with European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde on economic developments,
- new emissions rules for the automotive sector,
- the impact of U.S. tariffs on European businesses,
- economic policy coordination under the European Semester,
- simplification of corporate sustainability and supply chain due diligence rules,
- the use of artificial intelligence in customs risk management.
MEPs will also prepare Parliament’s position ahead of the European Council meeting on 26–27 February, where defence, competitiveness, and continued support for Ukraine are expected to dominate the agenda.
